Sakurazuka Seishirou- Tokyo Babylon & X/1999
Category: Anime/Manga Characters

Fansite: Criminal Grace
Seishirou is pure love and adoration for me. Before I even read Tokyo Babylon and X, I read about him and was captivated by him. He was the reason I even started both of the series. I HAD to know his story. The fansite for him that I own is called Criminal Grace, and I think that is a perfect way to describe him. He's dangerous, cunning, charming, and heartless, but he has a elegance about him that makes it so easy to over look those things. In fact, he just seems to make those evil qualities beautiful. His personality is more complex than your normal character, too, because he's such a mixture of things. Even though he feels he's not capable of loving, there's a part of him that does feel something.

Depeche Mode

I've loved this band since I was around 13. I remember the days of cranking up the radio when one of their songs came on. Now, I own the full discography. Their music is pure sensuality and energy. Gahan has the best voice I've ever heard and Gore is just a genius when it comes to putting a song together. If I could choose one band to have with me forever, it would be this one. In some way, everything I love now is tied in with Depeche Mode-- every song has a memory.

Eric Northman- Southern Vampire Mysteries (Sookie Stackhouse) / True Blood
Category: Characters: Book/TV
Times applied: 1
There I go loving the old, tall, Nordic blonde vampire again! I just can't help myself. Why do I love Eric? Because he's strong, he's careful but careless at the same time. He's old and in control, but full of humor. Eric is someone you can connect with, but still has a coldness and detachment about him that makes him seem a wonderfully powerful figure. He's a man who could really dominate and never regret anything he does. I find that all very compelling in a character.

Ancient Rome

I owned this at one point and in a moment of utter stupidity, let it go. I've regret it since. Rome is... well, life for me. It's so deep in my heart that I can't remove it. I hold a degree in history, Rome as my historical focus and passion. When I get a Masters, I plan to center my research on Rome. The bulk of my scholarly writings has been about Rome. If I could, I would transport myself to Rome and live there forever. The people, the politics, the daily life... it's all so, so fascinating and beautiful to me.

Matsuda Ryuhei

Ever since I saw Gohatto (Taboo), I've loved his acting. He always does the good, meaningful or out of the ordinary parts like in Blue Spring (my second favorite). I just love his look, his attitude, his talent, and all the movies that he's ever done.
Angel Sanctuary
Category: Anime/Manga Series

Heaven vs. Hell? Evil angels and cross-dressing demons? The beautiful art of Yuki Kaori? Ooooh, this series is just beautiful! The art, the storyline, the subplots and personal stories of all the individual characters... it's a supurb series. There's no other series out there with the same ethereal beauty that Angel Sanctuary has, and I love the religious undertone to it.
Aoyagi Seimei- Loveless
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 0
I read Loveless just for him and how he interacted with the other characters and changed the plotline. There was so much calmness around his character, so much control, that I found myself pulled into him like a lull. And with his every word and action, I wondered what his motivations were. Still, his dominant nature and obvious sadism drew me in, too, because those aspects of personality personally appeal to me rather than disgust me. I understood him and his emotions more for this. Rather than see him as mentally ill or 'off,' I found him beautiful and unique.
Die- Dir en grey
Category: Musicians: Male Solo

Die, Die, Die my darling. Okay, so this isn't a Misfits song, but I always think of that line when it comes to Die. I LOVE to watch him play. When he gets into it and he's prancing around or banging his head, you just feel the music that much better. He brings great energy to the stange... that and he's just hilarious sometimes. Die is a total dork, but I like him more for it. When you have an amazing guitarist and song composer with such energy and personality, it's charming.
FAKE
Category: Anime/Manga Series
Times applied: 2
If it wasn't for FAKE, I wouldn't be watching anime or reading manga. After Hurricane Isobel, we didn't have power for a week. One of the only places with electricity and air conditioning was Barnes and Noble. We went there, I was wandering with my (gay) friend Johnny looking for guys kissing. He picked up FAKE, showed it to me, and bought it for me for my birthday that day. I read it while walking and fell in love! It's serious and intense, but the comic relief is classic, especially because Dee is such a perv and dork. Cop drama and gay romance. It's pure manga/anime love.
Gravitation
Category: Anime/Manga Series
Times applied: 1
I have a Gravitation obsession. I have domains, plushies, shitajiki, manga, novels, tshirts... the list goes on and on. Sure, Gravitation is dramatic and angsty, but the comedy is classic. There's no other manga/anime with a giant panda, an American with a gun obsession like K, cute little sadists like Tohma, and pure assholes like Eiri. Gravitation is a one of a kind series. It's just a series to enjoy, fully cracked out in between horrible memories and dramatic character interactions. Murakami is a manga goddess.
Horror Movies

I'll watch any horror movie once and that is my goal. My mother initiated me into horror movies from an early age (the first movie I remember seeing is Hellraiser at a drive in). She created a full on Ghoul out of me. I love horror, I love the thrill, I love the blood, I love the chaos! I follow the horror movie scene closely and keep up on it through Fangoria and Rue Morgue among others. This is my favorite genre, by far.
Kurogane- Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 1
Kurogane makes me laugh and I adore him for it. He's a total badass, but there are times when he's the greatest source of comic relief in the story. He's definitely a little high strug, probably because he doesn't like when people make him look stupid. Despite his rough exterior, he's a really nice guy. And dependable.
Kurogane & Fye D. Flowright- Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Category: Anime/Manga Relationships
Times applied: 2
They're polar opposites. Kurogane is stubborn and untight and Fye is (seemingly) lighthearted and easy going. That's why they fit so well together. It's nice for Kurogane to have someone like Fye around him so that he he can learn to lighten up, too. The two of them just have an awesome dynamic. In some ways, the relationship seems love/hate, but they're loyal friends regardless of how they might (meaning Fye) might annoy the other (meaning Kurogane).
Nataku- X/1999
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 2
When I read X volume 18, I decided that Nataku had to be one of my favorite characters of the series. Again, the seemingly mindless sidekick like figure, this one with a hint more innocence despite his nature, who is so devoted that he'll do what the one he loves thinks just to make that one happy. Sometimes there was so much confusion and pain in Nataku's face that I just wanted to cuddle him. And Nataku claims that he has no heart, no emotions, it's obvious by his own sacrificial and indeed kind at times nature that he does. Nataku is another one of those complex characters who walks on both sides of one aspect.
Sakura

Is there any denying what a beautiful blossom the Sakura tree is? I love the sight of them, the smell of them, watching the petals float down to the ground and blanket it like snow. Piles of blossom leaves look like pillows, like they'd be soft to lay down in. The cherry blossom relaxes me. I really love this blossom. I have a keychain (purchased in Japan) that plays the Sakura song and I have a body spray of Japanese Cherry Blossom to wear every day. Best smell ever.
Sakurazuka Seishirou & Sumeragi Subaru- Tokyo Babylon & X
Category: Anime/Manga Relationships
Times applied: 0
Seishirou and Subaru have, by far, the most interesting of all relationships. It's almost symbiotic the way that they act with one another, not to mention wonderfully S&M. They both need each other, even if it's just to hurt and be hurt. Their obsessions with one another go far deeper than just hate, too. Personally, I think that their hate has more to do with their love for one another. Subaru has this masochistic need to be hurt by Seishirou, while Seishirou needs to hurt him almost as if to remind Suburu that he belongs to him and only him. That's what I love most about them.
Seguchi Tohma- Gravitation
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 1
My friend Kel called me a Tohma-phile and she was right. I'm so hopeless infatuated with his cute little face and giggle, and just as much with that glare of his. Again, Tohma is a complex guys. He's brutal when he needs to be, and he hides it all behind an adorable face. How could anyone hate a man so beautiful, right? The ruthless way he protects Eiri is the thing that draws me in the most to Tohma. He doesn't care who he has to hurt as long as Eiri is protected. That sort of dedication is... just fascinating. He's like this cute little evil genius and world superpower. I mean, he has a dungeon under his office building! How cutely sadistic is that!?
Sesshoumaru- Inu Yasha
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 1
Powerful, aristocratic, ruthless, heartless...? What CAN'T one find to love Sesshoumaru for? Again, he's that complex character like Seishirou who has this graceful evilness about him, which seems so absolute, yet you see a soft side of him come out sometimes so that you know there's more to him than just that emptiness.
Sohma Kureno- Fruits Basket
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 0
The moment Kureno appeared, I was fascinated by him. Something about his sadness touched me, but perhaps more because of his resolve and devotion even at the sake of himself. He wasn't an advice giving altruist like Tohru, simply a quiet accepter. Something about him hurt me even when he was happy. I don't know why, I just hurt when I read about him and that is why I like him so much. Then again, it could also be because I am year of the chicken. :P
Sohma Kyou- Fruits Basket
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 1
Kyou was the reason to read and watch Fruits Baskets for me when I picked up the manga. He's the funniest character and the one with the best story. No matter how terrible his life has been, or the lack of acceptance, he just keeps on fighting. Instead of letting it get the best of him and defeat him, he keeps going determined to become the best. I think the progression of his character development in Fruits Basket is probably the best for any character in any series I've ever read.
Tokyo Babylon
Category: Anime/Manga Series
Times applied: 1
Tokyo Babylon is a classic, especially since it's a story that focuses on Seishirou and Subaru. It's a cute story, but it can be dark at times, and the ending is probably one of the most depressing and dark endings I've ever read in a storyline. When you start the story, it's happy. When you end it, it's miserable. Stories are usually the other way around, and that's why Tokyo Babylon kind of lingers with you afterwards.
X/1999
Category: Anime/Manga Series
Times applied: 0
Nothing like a battle for the fate of the world full of angst and mild romantic interludes, right? Seriously, no one can craft angst like CLAMP and X is, like, the poster child of that. There's not a single normal and happy character in the series, or a simple character. The pure uniqueness of every character really makes X stand out, and every story could be a plot in itself.
Yuuto Kigai- X/1999
Category: Anime/Manga Characters
Times applied: 1
Yuuto is... soft but vicious. For the total sadist that he is, he's a really nice guy. He just goes with the flow and lives his life the way he wants while following what he sees as fate without any sort of care as to what that fate is. It's total acceptance for the way things have to be. Maybe that's why he can slice and smile at the same time.
